Ann Sacks introduces Eclipse

PORTLAND, Ore. (April 21, 2006) – Eclipse, a new jet black marble tile for Ann Sacks is the ultimate in stylish sophistication. Without veining, this marble has a rarified, timeless quality, its pristine presence broken only by the most subtle inclusions. The tiles have been honed to a silky matte finish rather than a high sheen in order to give the surface a velvety smoothness and a soft glow. This unique marriage of deep ebony coloring and a warm tactile finish makes for a setting that is both dramatic and inviting.

Available in either 6” x 12” or 12” x 12” tiles, Eclipse brings a striking, clean look anywhere from the backsplash in the kitchen to the shower walls in the bathroom. “Unlike granite, which can be flat, Eclipse has a depth and softness that makes it an inviting design element,” said John Hart, chief merchandising officer, Ann Sacks & Kallista. “Its stark, deep shading provides a chic backdrop for brilliant color with a singular beauty that can stand on its own.”

The perfectly level, cool surface is also ideal for flooring, as the honed finish does not show wear patterns as easily as more polished stone floors might. In addition, because this unusual pure black marble has no veining, the finished settings have a consistent monochromatic appearance that is unlike the variegated look of most marble installations.

The earthy appeal of the natural stone and the chic raven hue creates a convivial setting with real panache and sexy style. “Eclipse is truly an amazing marble,” continued Hart. “The combination of the color and the honed finish allows it to work in a variety of settings, not just the very high-end, modern installations.”
